Texas Tech to Host Conference Celebrating the Sowell Family Collection

WHAT:          Sowell Family Collection Conference

WHEN:          Thursday-Saturday (April 18-20)

WHERE:        Texas Tech University Southwest Collection Library, Formby Room

EVENT:          The Texas Tech Office of the President, the Office of the Provost, the Honors College and the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library will sponsor the conference featuring the Sowell Family Collection in Literature, Community and the Natural World. There will be reading and presentations by students and scholars from Texas Tech and across the country.

Schedule of events:

8-9 p.m. Thursday
Reading with environmental and fiction writer Rick Bass
Reception and book signing to follow

7-8 p.m. Friday
Open mic night for attendees to read Pattiann Rogers poems

2-3 p.m. Saturday
Presentation with noted environmental writer and butterfly expert Robert Michael Pyle

The conference is free and open to the public.
