Before you re-finance your car and take a third job in order to get three-day passes to Austin City Limits or South by Southwest, there is hope.  There are several great music festivals coming up in the spring and summer, all of which are in Texas and are cheaper to attend compared to ACL and SXSW.  Here’s my Top 4:

 

1.

Free Press Summer Fest 2013 – Houston, TX; June 1-2

Must-See Bands: Postal Service, Iggy and the Stooges, TV on the Radio, Alabama Shakes, Of Monsters and Men, Arctic Monkeys, Cat Power, Grace Potter & The Nocturnals, Dawes, Paul Banks (Interpol), Japandroids, Baroness, The Men

6th Annual Austin Psych Fest 2013 – Austin, TX; April 26-28

3-Day Pass: $150

Must-See Bands: Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Besnard Lakes, The Soft Moon, Suuns, Tamaryn, Deerhunter, The Black Angels, King Khan & The Barbecue Show, Growlers, No Joy

Chaos In Tejas 2013 – Austin, TX; May 30-June 2
