Following the tragedy that rocked the streets of Boston late Monday afternoon, many professional teams took notice.
Boston is home to three professional sports teams, the Bruins, the Celtics and the Red Sox out of the NHL, NBA and MLB, respectively.
By the time the explosions had occurred the Red Sox game against the Rays had already been completed, Sox winning 3-2, but the other Boston teams had games planned as well.
The Bruins were set for a 6 p.m. puck drop against the Ottawa Senators, but that game was postponed. The Bruins are set to be back on the ice in Boston on Wednesday night taking on the Sabres.
For the other professional team, the Boston Celtics cancelled their Tuesday meeting with the Indiana Pacers. The game will not be made up due to the fact that the NBA regular season is in its final week and both he Celtics and Pacers are locked for the playoffs.
The Celtics will play their final game of the regular season on the road on Wednesday, facing the Toronto Raptors north of the border.
Security was also heightened across the country at other professional sporting venues including the Miami Marlins ballpark and in San Diego for the Padres and Dodgers Monday night game according to sources.
