Monday’s Forecast

As of 10 AM, Lubbock has already warmed into the 70s. Temps will warm even further as we head into the afternoon; topping out in the lower 90’s between 4 & 6 PM. Winds will be gusty through early evening. Gusty conditions could lead to patchy areas of blowing dust, before winds weaken overnight.

Tuesday will bring another round of hot temperatures to the South Plains. In Lubbock, afternoon highs may reach the mid 90’s, under partly cloudy skies and gusty afternoon winds. There will be a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms, along and east of the I-27 corridor, including Lubbock. If storms do develop, they could be strong. Gusty winds, dangerous lightning, and small hail will be the main severe weather threats.

Big changes arrive on Wednesday. Another strong cold front will sweep through the region during the afternoon. In the front’s wake, much colder weather, gusty winds, and blowing dust will affect the city of Lubbock. It is possible that temperatures could dip below Freezing by Friday morning.
