Friday will be much cooler acros the South Plains, with highs staying in the 60s for just about everyone. There will be periods of high clouds, similar to earlier in the week. Winds will be gusty in the afternoon, between 25-30 mph, but will be much weaker than the winds that plagued the area on Thursday afternoon.

However this lull in the winds will be short-lived.  A strong cold front will move throuhg the South Plains Saturday afternoon and evening. Ahead the of the front, temperatures will be comfortable. Though, winds will be very strong, causing widspread blowing dust. Behind this front, winds will stay strong as tempertures take a nose dive.

By Sunday morning, many locations will be sitting in the 20’s as gusty winds continue; make it feel more like the teens as you step out the door. Skies will remain partly cloudy with winds slowly subsiding by afternoon. It will remain very cold, with highs in the 40’s through the beginning of the workweek.
