Monday will begin on a mild note across the South Plains, with temperatures only in the upper 40s and 50s for most locations. Highs will be in the mid 70s in Lubbock, with readings closer to 80° possible well south of Lubbock, across the southern South Plains and greater Permian Basin. Winds will also increase through the day; gusting over 40 mph by early afternoon, with gusty winds continuing through early evening.
Strong winds will lead to areas of blowing dust, especially in open areas. Other than the brown tint caused by blowing dust, skies will remain partly cloudy.
