Texas Tech to Host Family and Community Engagement Seminar
Texas Tech is the first university to host the annual event.

Texas Tech University and the Division of Institutional Diversity, Equity & Community Engagement’s Office of Community Engagement, in conjunction with Region 16 and the Title I Statewide School Support and Parental Involvement Initiative, have announced the 2013 Statewide Family and Community Engagement Seminar (F.A.C.E.S.) to be held March 7-8 in Lubbock.

The event, which annually draws more than 500 attendees, will be held at the Student Union Building on the Texas Tech campus. Texas Tech University is the first university to host a Title I Parental Involvement program.

The major goal of the seminar is to create a forum for parents, families, educators and community leaders to exchange ideas that will lead to student success. Parents and families who participate are encouraged to enhance the learning relationship between home and school. Information and resources also will be provided to parents and families to help them gain a better understanding of existing school and community resources. Educators who participate will be challenged to use the forum as a method to develop parent-friendly schools that are built upon effective communication with families, strong community partnerships and a general college-going philosophy.
