TUCSON – Former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords appeared at the Tucson Safeway where she was shot by a gunman two years ago.
She appeared with her husband and some of the survivors of that mass shooting that left 6 dead and 13 injured. They were here to pressure Senators John McCain and Jeff Flake to support their call for universal background checks. Mark Kelly, her husband:
MARK KELLY: “In the last 2 months, Gabby is back. [Applause] She is back and she is committed to doing whatever it takes.”
The public appearance came just one day before the Senate Judiciary Committee, which Flake is a part of, considers legislation that requires background checks.
