Similar to the past few days, Friday will start out on the cold side. Temperatures will be in the 20’s across most of the South Plains as you head out the door. Friday’s afternoon temperatures will be on the chilly side as well, due to an early morning cold front and increased cloud cover. There is even a slim chance of a few sprinkles or snow flurries, mainly north and east of Lubbock, through Friday afternoon.

However, after another chilly morning on Saturday, a warming trend will begin. Afternoon highs will warm into the mild territory by Saturday afternoon, before warming even further on Sunday. Some areas across the southern South Plains and Permian Basin could flirt with the 80° mark before the weekend ends. Unfortunately, this warm up won’t last long, as another cold front ushers in much cooler weather to begin the following week.
