After a great weekend to get outdoors, it appears that the weather may take a more unsettled turn; at-least in the short term. A disturbance is approaching the South Plains from the west Sunday evening. This disturbance combined with elevated moisture values present across the region, could yield areas of sprinkles or very light rain showers Sunday night into very early Monday morning.

Following the clouds and sprinkles, the weather looks to clear out by Monday afternoon. Morning temperatures will start mild; in the 40’s. A warm afternoon is expected as well, with high temperatures in the lower 60’s on Monday. Breezy northwesterly winds, will shift to a more northeasterly direction and gust over 20 mph by  mid-afternoon.

There is an increasing number of signs pointing to a dramatic shift towards a cool and stormy weather pattern for the Nation’s mid-section by next weekend. The first in a series of storm systems could bring thunderstorms tot the South Plains by Friday, followed by much cooler weather.

More on that later this week…

Have a great Monday,

Cutter Martin (KTXT Weather)
