Friday Saturday Sunday

* Cool & Breezy *PM Storms * Much colder PM
Weather wise, Friday will essentially be a repeat of Thursday. Friday morning will begin on the cold side, with temperatures in the mid 20’s expected across Lubbock as you head out the door. Though, northerly winds on the order of 10-15 mph will make it feel more like the upper teens and lower 20’s! Highs on Friday will be near,or just above, average with plenty of sunshine and gusty easterly winds.
Saturday will be different story. Skies may initially be mostly clear, but cloud will increase dramatically through early afternoon. There may even be rain showers across central and eastern portions of the South Plains by mid-afternoon. As a cold front moves into the South Plains early Sunday morning, it appears that a line of thunderstorms, some strong, will develop and race eastward. At this time, it’s uncertain exactly where strong storms will develop. It appears eastern areas stand the best chance of receiving meaningful rainfall.
The weather will be much calmer on Sunday, though gusty winds will exist across the entire area behind Saturday’s cold front. Much cooler temperatures are again expected beginning Sunday afternoon. Even colder air will filter into the region from the north, just ahead of yet another approaching storm system. This area of low pressure will likely bring some sort of frozen precipitation to portions of the area Monday night through Wednesday morning. It is still too soon to forecast specifics, but the weather could begin to impact travel by Tuesday morning.
Have a great Friday,
Cutter Martin (KTXT Weather)
