Forecast models have not changed much overnight and are still depicting a strong storm system approaching the region later today and tonight. Already, radar is beginning to show very light rain and drizzle from Midland to Abilene. If anything, clouds and moisture may move into the region quicker than originally thought.
Rain, possibly even a rumble of thunder, will begin tonight across southern areas. As rain intensifies and increases in coverage, it will move north through the rest of the South Plains. Northern areas still have the best chance of seeing snow early Tuesday through Tuesday evening. Because of this, a Winter Storm Watch has been issued for PARMER, CASTRO, SWISHER, BRISCOE, HALL, CHILDRESS. Lubbock will likely see mostly rain, before changing over to snow or a rain snow mix sometime on Tuesday afternoon. Right now, nailing down specific accumulations is difficult. Though, it appears that areas north of a Clive-Plainview-Childress line could easily see 2-4 inches. Areas south of that line (including Lubbock) will most likely see less then an inch, if anything.
Stay tuned,
