After starting out in the mid 20’s, Lubbock will quickly warm to an afternoon high in the lower 60’s. Mostly sunny skies and southwesterly winds between 10-25 mph are expected. Tuesday evening temperatures will be much warmer than Monday’s; only slowly falling toward the 40 mark by mid evening. Wednesday morning temperatures will begin near the freezing mark; though will quickly warm, similar to Tuesday. Skies will remain mostly clear, with only light winds through Wednesday morning.
Looking ahead, it appears that the weather may become more active by the end of this week. By this weekend, there is an outside chance of precipitation across the South Plains as a storm system passes just to our north. Another, more significant shot at precipitation may be in the forecast by early next week. For now it appears that the precipitation will fall as rain, if we get any at all. Though, forecast models are again having trouble figuring out this evolving weather pattern, meaning that changes in the forecast are expected.
