Good afternoon,
The rest of Monday continues to look cold, with Lubbock possibly not making it out of the 20’s before the sunset. Winds will also be breezy; in the 15-20 mph range before dying down tonight. It is currently snowing across the extreme northwest South Plains and eastern New Mexico. There is a chance that as we head into this evening, that this snow could try to works its way closer to the Lubbock area. As of now, accumulations are unlikely.
There is also a storm system approaching from the south and west and could impact the area Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday with more clouds and light snow. However, forecast models are struggling to resolve this storm system. Right now, it appears that the odds of meaningful precipitation are minimal; though these types of weather systems are notorious for ‘over-performing’ and could have a greater impact on the South Plains than we currently think.
Lows on Tuesday morning will be in the upper teens, with cloud cover likely still hanging around.
