Good morning,
After a cold morning low of 16°, Lubbock will make it into the mid 40’s under mostly clear skies. Winds will initially be out of the west 5-10 mph, though a gradual shift to a southerly direction will occur through the day. Along with this shift in direction, winds will increase into the 10-20 mph range by this evening. Strong southerly breezes will help pump higher levels of moisture into the South Plains overnight Saturday, causing an increase in cloudcover into Sunday morning with low temperatures ‘only’ making it down into the mid 20’s by sunrise Sunday.
Looking ahead:
By Sunday afternoon a storm system will begin affecting the area with an increase in clouds and eventually precipitation . It looks like most of the precipitation will hold off until after 3PM. Precipitation types may be tricky to forecast. However, it appears that areas north of Plainview and closer to the border stand the best shot at recieving wintry precipitation, with a cold rain likely south of there; including Lubbock. As always, the weather is a very fluid thing, and much can change between now and Sunday night.
