Good Morning,
Friday featured a line of strong thunderstorms which swept through the Lubbock around 4 PM. The airport officially recorded .14 inches of precipitation from these storms; with isolated areas east of Lubbock receiving close to a half an inch of rain! Fortunately, the storms of yesterday are long gone and in their wake the South Plains will bask under mostly sunny skies. However, strong westerly winds will occur throughout the day.Though not as strong as Friday’s wind event, sustained winds between 20-30 mph will be likely with gusts possible topping 40 mph. High temperatures will be mild however, likely reaching the lower 60’s by mid-afternoon in Lubbock.
Winds will begin to slowly subside by evening and will only be in the 15-20 mph range overnight. Because of the breezy conditions, lows will only fall into the mid 30’s across Lubbock by Sunday morning. Though, with breezy conditions still present; wind chills will likely be near 25° overnight Saturday and into Sunday morning. Stay warm!
