Good Evening,
We finally saw measurable rain across a large portion of the area! While the airport only received a “trace” amount of rainfall, areas to our south and west received better totals; with .22 in. being reported at Hobbs, New Mexico. Clouds began clearing out this evening, with better clearing expected overnight with lows falling into the middle 40’s by tomorrow morning. Temperatures will top out in the lower 70’s for the day Monday, under partly cloudy skies and light winds. This will be the warmest it has been in over a week.
Looking Ahead:
This work week’s weather still appears to consist of partly/mostly cloudy skies, but very little in the way of precipitation. However, our next best chance for receiving rainfall will be on Thanksgiving day (though the chance is minimal as of now) as a cold front and upper level disturbance moves into the area.
Signs are still looking promising for cold weather lovers for a pattern change after Thanksgiving. The first in a series of strong cold fronts could begin impacting west Texas between 11/28- 12/1, with more cold air to follow the first round. It is still too early to talk specifics or whether or not there will be any precipitation with this cold air, though it appears that this ultra-boring pattern we’ve been stuck in as of late may end shortly after Thanksgiving…hopefully.
Have a great Monday,
Cutter Martin (KTXT Weather)
