Levelland Man Charged With 1st Degree Murder in Shooting

A man has been charged with 1st degree murder in a Levelland shooting.

According to Levelland Police Chief Tony Cowan, Ryan Garcia was arraigned by Hockley County District Attorney Chris Dennis Friday.

Garcia was arrested after he shot a man September 21st on the corner of North Avenue M. and Monroe Street in Levelland. He told police it was in self defense. He was originally arrested for being a felon in possession of a firearm. Upon a search of his home investigators found methamphetamine, which was added to his list of charges. He is being held in the Hockley Count Jail under $200,000 bond.
