Levelland police are investigating a shooting that took place Friday.
Officers received a call at 4:20 pm September 21st saying that a man had been shot on the corner of North Avenue M. and Monroe street in Levelland. When officers arrived they found a man lying dead in the middle of Avenue M. The suspect told police he shot the man after he tried to break into the suspect’s home.
Levelland Police Chief Tony Cowan said the suspect is a convicted felon and was not authorized to possess a weapon. The man was arrested and is being held under $150,000 bond under one charge of a Felon in possession of a firearm. Chief Cowan says a third person is being interviewed in the incident, and that the suspect may face a murder charge depending on the results of an ongoing investigation.
