LUBBOCK, TEXAS – It has been a tough stretch for Kansas since its game with in-state rival Kansas State on February 12, when the Jayhakws not only lost the game but also leading scorer Carolyn Davis.

With Davis done for the season with a knee injury, the team has been trying to find a new identity and heading into Lubbock on Tuesday night they would as Davis was the Jayhawks leading scorer the first time the two teams met as she went for 34 points against the Lady Raiders.
Despite not having Davis, Kansas still walked into the United Spirit Arena and walked right back out on Tuesday night with a 69-64 win handing Tech its third straight loss.

The Lady Raiders (17-10, 5-10 in Big 12 Conference Play) just could not find the answer to stop the Jayhawks and point guard Angel Goodrich.
Goodrich took over the game late in the first half, after Kansas (18-9, 7-8) missed its first two three-point attempts of the night Goodrich rattled off three in a row to contribute to a 9-4 run giving Kansas a 31-22 lead with just one minute and 27 seconds left in the first half.

The junior guard finished the game going for 20 points on 8-for-16 shooting and was 3-for-6 from behind the arc. Goodrich also had eight assists in the game which put her at 208 for the season breaking a 24-year old single-season record in assists by a Kansas player.

The Lady Raiders answered back with a 6-0 run to close the half and be within there, 31-28, going into the locker room.

Tech, down 41-34 with 16:56 left in the game, opened up a 9-0 run to take a 43-41 lead, but the lead would change back and forth between the two teams until with 5:41 left in the game Kansas’ Natalie Knight nailed a three-pointer giving the Jayhawks a 59-56.

Tech would never lead again going 2-for-8 from the field in the last stretch of the game giving the Jayhawks enough to pull out the win and snap their three-game losing streak.

Chynna Brown led the way for the Lady Raiders in the game scoring 21 points matching a season-high that was set on November 16 against Houston and marks the only Tech player this season to have multiple 20-point performances.  Along with Brown, Monique Smalls scored 12 points and was the only other Lady Raider to reach double-digits in scoring.  The Lady Raiders will try and snap their losing streak on the road on Saturday as they travel to College Station for the final time to take on Gary Blair and the Texas A&M Aggies.

The game is set for a 7 p.m. first tip and can be seen on FSN.
